The 48 hours after teeth whitening are important in maximizing whitening results for a long lasting bright smile. During the time you are whitening, and for 48 hours after avoid smoking, Avoid drinking dark beverages: Do not drink tea, soda, soft drinks, colored juices, coffee, or red wine.

o Use a straw when drinking: This minimizes contact from the liquid to your teeth.

o Eat white foods: white chicken, pasta, Tuna (no vinegar), white fish, cheese, white rice, white bread, potatoes, cauliflower, apples, bananas, pears.
Avoid eating highly colored foods: red sauce, red tomatoes, blueberries, red sauces, soy sauce, ketchup, mustard, potato chips, etc….

o Rinse your mouth after each meal.

o Avoid putting lipstick (or lip-gloss on for the first 48 hours It may stain teeth).

o Avoid using colored toothpaste or colored mouthwash for the first 48 hours.

o Brush regularly. This is good for oral hygiene and can keep your teeth whiter for a longer period of time.

1- Sensitivity to hot or cold liquids may occur. Teeth may be sensitive to cold air. This usually passes within 1-2 days. If sensitivity is severe or persists, contact your dentist.

2- If you experience gum sensitivity do not brush the afflicted area while brushing your teeth. Choose anti-sensitivity toothpaste. (If post operative sensitivity occurs, take what you would normally use for a headache).
